This photo looks east along 28th Street toward Broadway. This area used to be the center of the city’s theater district before Times Square emerged. The term “The Great White Way” refers to this stretch of Broadway. Of note, the low grey building on the right is the former Everard Baths, a gay bath house which burned in the 1970s.
