This photo shows the west side of 9th Avenue between 37th & 38th Streets. This area is historically part of what was once known as the Tenderloin District (San Francisco’s Tenderloin was named after this New York neighborhood) which extended from what’s now Hudson Yards all the way up through Hell’s Kitchen. It’s a bit of an ambiguous area today, not quite Hell’s Kitchen, but not quite Chelsea, and it’s really not much like Hudson Yards a few blocks away.
